GLENVIEW EDUCATION FOUNDATION’S 7TH ANNUAL BENEFIT RAISES $108,000
There was no prohibition on fun at the 7th annual Glenview Education Foundation (GEF) benefit Saturday, November 8, 2008 at Chevy Chase Country Club where guys and dolls circulated through the 1920's speakeasy atmosphere. The theme of the night was GET Smart for a New Generation and about 350 guests witnessed firsthand the kind of interactive learning tools which GEF has funded in District 34 classrooms over the last several years. The benefit raised more than $108,000 and proceeds will fund additional SMART Board technology and other high impact learning initiatives throughout the district. Participating in the raffle turned out to be an especially smart move on the part of Paul & Amanda Gregory who won more than $8,000 cold cash!
Since 2002, GEF has raised funds to support District 34's long standing tradition of innovation and quality. Teachers who effectively utilize SMART board technology are able to increase student engagement and learning. With this year's additional contributions of integrative technology and curriculum enrichment programs, GEF's support will exceed the half million dollar mark.
